Thank God It's Friday - this is an object made for celebration. The six goblets are connected to wine carafe and can be snapped off. The goblets appear as if they are swinging their legs, excited to cut free or perhaps a little unsteady after a weekend drinking. This is a slightly toasted take on the seven-branched menorah. The Six goblets stand for the six days of creation but they also stand for the more mundane, more human six days of work in a week. You can snap a glass a day, you can crack them all with friends on the weekend or you can leave them in tact and savor the anticipation for the moment when every thing is done and you can sit down and take your shoes off. A reminder of the way the entire world lives to a clock that ticks with the rhythm of this ancient belief. This project was designed with Rory Hooper for the AIDA show in SOFA Chicago. Nov. 2008 |
